Food Waste Wednesday 3/6/13

Every wednesday I will post a picture of food that has gone bad over the last seven days. This is to help motivate me not to waste food. Maybe from everyone else seeing all the food that is going bad will help me actually use it up before it does! And hopefully will motivate you to do the same.

I am happy to report that nothing went bad this past week. I hope to have the same turnaround next week.

This week I only had one thing go bad.... My strawberry salad. It may look good but it smells far from that and the bottom leaves are slimy. Yuck! If my darling husband didn't pour the salad dressing on the entire salad it would have lasted a lot longer. But we live and learn....I learned not to let my husband help me in the kitchen anymore.

I had an epic fail this past week. I had so many things go bad. I didn't have the heart to take a picture of everything. But what went bad was a container of slimy smelly spring mix lettuce, a wilted head of green leaf lettuce, a yam that had mold on it, 3 slimy tomatoes, and a 1/4 loaf of homemade bread that grew mold on it. I was so busy this past week I wasn't able to blog, grocery shop, sew or even make sure everything was used up before it went bad. I'm going to try extra hard this coming week to make up for this bad food waste Wednesday I had.

Four Yoplait yogurt cups, pizza and parmesan tilapia.

 

I can't believe I let those Yoplait yogurts expire! I guess I forgot we had them. Next would be the pizza, it's rock hard, no way in saving that thing. And the parmesan tilapia was delicious when I made it but the left overs are far from that! It smells horrible! Next time I will use up leftovers faster.
